The Community Research & Evaluation Team is comprised of seven associates of varying backgrounds, experience and expertise. This team provides a wide range of research, evaluation and planning services to public agencies, foundations, and non-profit organizations. In all of our work, we seek to form a learning partnership that promotes reflection on research, exemplary practices, and various forms of data. While below we describe planning, evaluation and research as separate services, as the G&A Approach describes, on most projects we seek ways to integrate these services seamlessly using evaluation and research to inform future planning.
- Strategic Planning has been conducted for individual organizations and large city-countywide collaborative groups. The hallmark of G&A planning processes is the production of a written, practical plan that is a tool for those who must implement the plan. Secondly, G&A works hard to ensure that we help stakeholders move from buy-in to a sense of ownership and even to genuine authorship of the process. With authorship comes a far stronger commitment to implementation.
OFCY Strategic Plan
- Evaluation of community-wide initiatives, grantees funded by a single source, and individual programs are characterized by being participatory and inclusive. The goal of every G&A evaluation is to use the process to build an organizational commitment to the use of data and research to inform program and staff development and to foster the creation of a genuine learning community.

- Applied Research is often an outgrowth of planning or evaluation services where a specific issue or challenge has been identified. G&A will review the literature, interview and often observe exemplary practitioners, and working closely with the client, generate a practical road map for implementing reforms that reflects best practice research while respecting and building upon clients capacities and resources.
- Grant Development Assistance can include technical support and advice, facilitation of planning, and/or preparation of narrative, budgets, and support materials. G&A has been providing grant development services since 1986 and enjoys better than a 90% success rate resulting in over $430 million in funding.
