He also held a research fellowship with the Community Care Network Demonstration, a national initiative funded by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation. The initiative provided funding and technical assistance to partnerships among health care and community stakeholders to implement comprehensive health improvement initiatives in 25 urban, suburban, and rural communities across the country. Mr. Barnett served as a Senior Advisor to the Health Research and Educational Trust, the research arm of the American Hospital Association and administrator of the initiative.
Mr. Barnett is currently developing an evaluation plan in Solano County for a countywide initiative to increase access to health services and reduce rates of alcohol, tobacco, and other drug use. The initiative is supported by Master Settlement Agreement funds, and includes the development of intersectoral partnerships in seven cities. He brings to the table decades of experience in planning, advocacy and evaluation.
