Julie Johnson, EdM
Julie has a wealth of experience in evaluation, grant writing, parent education, behavioral health, and adult and youth education. She has qualitative and quantitative evaluation experience, including development of protocols and questionnaires, conducting key informant interviews and focus groups, and analyzing student data. She has also conducted extensive observations of classroom teaching practices and of professional development services. Her recent education research work includes projects for Amplify, a company that develops digital curriculum, products, and assessments in collaboration with the UC Berkeley Lawrence Hall of Science.Julie is active in developing parent education tools and trainings through Parenting by Connection and Hand in Hand Parenting and through Parent Child Connection. Her work has also included facilitation of trainings for social-emotional learning, including conflict mediation, and anti-bias education for youth, educators, and members of non-profit organizations. She served as a grant writer for the esteemed educational program, Facing History and Ourselves, and an editor for Equity and Excellence in Education. Julie has taught in secondary public schools in both New York City and Fremont, California. She received her master's in education from Lesley University in Boston and her bachelor's degree in history from San Francisco State University.
